GISR announces to you with utmost pleasure that Dr. Alhad Mulkalwar has received the Outstanding Undergraduate Student in Research of the Year Award at IARE 2021. The role of doctors in our society is paramount that makes it essential to recognize emerging new personalities in this field such as Dr. Alhad.

Dr. Alhad Mulkalwar has completed his under graduation and currently working as an intern (M.B.B.S.) from Seth Gordhandas Sunderdas Medical College and King Edward Memorial Hospital, Parel, Mumbai. He has been interested in Medical Research and Innovation, having worked under senior doctors in more than 15 medical, surgical and paraclinical specialties as an undergraduate student at KEM Hospital.

Achievements

His achievements include 8 original research articles and 9 case reports in reputed medical journals, a total of 7 awards for best research paper and poster presentation and 6 awards for best symposium at various national and International Medical Conferences. Alhad has also been an avid quizzer, having won 13 national and international quizzes in the subjects of Physiology, Community medicine, Orthopedics, Psychiatry, Plastic Surgery and Dermatology. Alhad has been the Academic Secretary of his college for 2 years and has been the Chief Coordinator for numerous National Conferences hosted by KEM Hospital.

He has been awarded numerous recognitions and scholarships for his outstanding contribution to the field of Medical Research and Education. From various global institutions and research bodies, he has recently received the Indo - Asian Jonas Salk Young Scientist Award in Medical Sciences and Indo-Pacific Edward Jenner Distinguished Innovative Scholar Award by the International Multidisciplinary Research Foundation in collaboration with United Nations 75^th Anniversary Dialogue on U.N. Sustainable Development Goals. Alhad has also received “International Young Researcher Award in Medical Science” by the Center for Professional Advancement, West Midlands, United Kingdom ; the ‘Young Medical Achiever Award’ by INSC, Bangalore ; GOSUMEC USA Foundation, Research and Innovation Scholarship 2016 and also the ‘Metropolis Scholarship 2020’ for Pursuing Academic Excellence as an Undergraduate Medical Student having outstanding academic and extracurricular achievements.

Roles of Responsibility

He is the Founder and First Secretary of KEM Hospital’s Student Council for Research and Innovation in the field of Medicine– A.S.P.I.R.E. (Association for Support and Propagation of Innovation, Research and Education). His other initiatives for students’ education include ‘The National Research Forum’ and ‘SPECTRUM – MBBS & Beyond’. Alhad is also currently a member of KEM Hospital’s M.A.R.D Covid-19 Task Force and has also worked as a member of Covid-19 screening delegation employed at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, Mumbai
