Dr. Nidhi Verma is a Principal Scientist at the Agricultural Education Division,
Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi. She is presently looking
after the implementation
of various Government of India programmes in higher agricultural education in
the country. She is a gold medallist from Utkal University, Bhubaneswar, and a doctorate in Plant Genetic
Resources from the Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi.
Her main areas of interest are: Agricultural Education, Agriculture policy issues, Gender issues, Plant Genetic Resources, and Intellectual Property Rights. She has been instrumental in importing a large number of plant germplasm including many new plant species in the country. She has been involved in the development and implementation of MoU between India and other countries. She has participated in and also organized several national and international programs. She has published over 80 research papers, book chapters, popular articles, and books and has received several awards for her work.
